Our Clients
We received an email from Claire & David who currently live in Jackson, Mississippi USA.
Claire is from the UK originally and David is from Canada. The couple will have their wedding in the USA for a select number of people, then fly to the UK for a big celebration with their families.
We checked our availability and arranged a Skype call at an appropriate time for all of us given the time difference.

Would you guys be willing to play on a boat?
Absolutely!
As the couple are already married (and you can't get married on Lake Windermere), they plan to have a ceremony on a small pleasure cruiser in front of their family and friends with the jetty as the aisle for the bride. Then drinks and canapés onboard as we cruise the lake. This is followed by a secondary reception up at the main house before the wedding breakfast. This brought up a number of possible stumbling blocks; The weather - It's the UK will we be under cover? Space - How big is the vessel? Power - We may need access to electricity if you want to hear us! Time - Is the house close to the jetty? We have to be there before the guests and it has to run smoothly.

Claire sent us the boat hire and venue contact details and we took care of the rest. Planning a wedding is stressful enough without having to deal with this kind of stuff let alone from a different continent, it is something we are used to doing and we try to help wherever we can.

Can you suggest some music?
Yes! We like Bach, Billie Holiday and Frank Zappa.
The couple know Gypsy Jazz is exactly what they want for their celebration so we send them our sample set-list via email and they are excited to see some of their favourites. However, they are struggling with choices, particularly for the aisle songs. This is a very personal choice for a bride but we suggest some that we feel are appropriate for the day and the type of personalities the couple both have. We are more than happy to make a bespoke set-list and are often requested to play a variety of modern pop, rock and soul songs in the Gypsy Jazz style.
The final choices are "How Sweet It Is" (Marvin Gaye version) and "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" (Stevie Wonder). These tunes reflected perfectly the couples party time personalties and funky attitude to the day and they are also very much in love!

We feel the day went very well from our point of view and once we finish up at the house we slip away to leave the guests to enjoy their meal and then party the night away. We received this email shortly after...

"Hi Micky, Karl & John

What can we say, other than you guys were ABSOLUTELY FAN-BLOODY-TASTIC! Really, you were spectacular. David and I and every one of our guests thought you were incredible. We feel enormously lucky that you travelled all the way up to the lakes to play for us.

It's no exaggeration to say that you were the highlight of our day. David and I's most favourite part of the day was dancing on the back of the boat while you guys played.

And thanks so much for playing our aisle song again at the house, as well as the impromptu rendition of Going to Jackson - that was a great little hoe-down we had going on there on the terrace.

You are one very talented group and the perfect accompaniment to our slightly not so normal wedding plans! Thanks for being so flexible and being up for it!"

Cheers,
Claire & David
